Welcome to 4DUB – Not just a Hip Hop group but a vision and experience!
Shomori Pass was born in the heart of Los Angeles to two Thai immigrants who split up when he was 6. This forced him to bounce back & forth from foster homes to schoolmates’ sympathetic parents’ homes until a lady whom he calls Momma Maryum accepted him into her family. At age 14, he escaped self destruction by visiting the home of childhood friend ’99 U.S. DMC Champ DJ P-Trix. The two spent hours a day scratching & rhyming over instrumentals. 2 years later when he met Jah Skillz freestyling at Hollywood’s Universal City Walk and he decided to start writing more seriously influenced by Jah taking him under her wing. His writing reflected on a change of environment as he moved to gang ridden North Long Beach after his sisters acceptance into Devry University of Long Beach. This era in his life built an underground notice capped even with a famed cipher at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles on Gower with Shyhiem the Rugged Child. That was the birth of Shomori Pass. While during studio sessions at the home of Robin Thicke, Shomori met & eventually joined Fo’Life later to be renamed Elseworld. During his time with them, he collaborated with Down aka Kilo on his 1st album entitled “My 40 Ounce.” All the while Shomori developed great music business knowledge from South African business executive Andre Charles who then was the Director of A & R for Yab Yum Entertainment where Elseworld was based. Knowledge in which he applied in completing his 1st solo album in 2001 entitled “ From tha Far East.” The album generated so much hype that the title track of the album caught the attention of Mopreme Shakur (brother of late great Tupac Shakur) and the two became friends instantly. Hip Hop seemed a great distance away while on a trip to Thailand but it lead to a chance meeting with another fellow Los Angelino named Hydro Phonics. The two already familiar with one another by reputation back in LA jumped at the chance to work together and shortly after a collaboration titled "Cold Cold World" the two decided to put that chemistry into a group called 4Dub. Their talent knows no boundaries & currently 4Dub are prospected as one of the most talented if not the best Hip Hop group in Asia. Hydro Phonics was born Tony B. King in the heart of the Dirty South (North Carolina). Even at a young age Hydro made a name for himself in Hip Hop by winning a national competition called the Prom Promise. His song "Stop before you get started" won praise and gained him notoriety nationwide as a promising newcomer in Hip Hop. His career was haulted however when he was arrested in the late 1990's and convicted of 3 drug dealing felonies. A technicality got Hydro off light with a stint in supervised probation & drug rehabilitation. The drug rehab caused a shock to Hydro's body and resulted in leaving him with Diabetes. Over the next year, the illness caused the forner 250 lb club bouncer to lose over 100 lbs(45kg) and took him from promising Hip Hop hopeful to nothing more than an ex convict with very few legal options left careerwise. Around that time one of Hydro's closest friends Demetrice (Scooby) Cheek was arrested on a double homicide that police believed was drug related. Although never named a suspect in the case, Hydro was questioned on several occasions about his whereabouts during the time of the murders as well as his relationship both business and personal with Mr. Cheek. Looking for some space away from the situation Hydro started spending more time in Miami than in NC where his freestyling in a south beach Hip Hop contest landed him a ghost writing job that slowly started edging him back into Hip Hop. After numerous successful songs, Hydro approached his employers in an attempt to make a transition from writer back to Emcee. His label felt taking a chance on a white rapper combined with losing the writer for one of their top artists would be a risky venture, and denied giving Hydro a deal. Hydro left his position as a writer and relocated to Los Angeles. The west coast welcomed him, as Hydro got involved in the Los Angeles Hip Hop scene quickly by being cast with Kurupt of the Dogg Pound & Big Boy of Power 106 to play a pimp in an episode of Fast Lane on Fox TV. That led to numerous commercials, TV shows, small parts and a somewhat successful start in the film industry. Hydro's acting career was progressing in LA but an unexpected turn was about to come his way. As luck would have it a trip to Asia and an unscheduled stop in Thailand led Hydro to discover a city that would not only make him abandoned his LA acting career, life, and friends but also would become a 2nd home and the birth place of 4Dub. The city is Bangkok, his name is Hydro and bringing street credit, reputation and a quick earned reputation as one of the best Emcees in Asia makes him respected and loved by the Hip Hop faithful no matter what his color. With a new CD on the way, an unprecedented internet buzz, two incredibly talented Emcees and a hot new video, its easy to see a much brighter and positive future ahead for 4Dub. Its now all about the music, spreading their message and doing some good in the community. Hydro & Shomori are spending their time these days writing rhymes instead of doing crimes, but unlike crimes - RHYMES DO PAY!
